There are a few nuances to watch out for when deploying Citrix Provisioning on Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 VMs on VMware ESX. The PVS target device installer will notify you that you need to install MS Hotfix KB2550978.

After installing this hotfix, their will be "ghosted" VMXNET3 adapters in Device Manager. There article below describes how to remove those "ghosted" hardware entries. (Add the following environmental variable: devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1)
